Put the games that can't be finished or whole genres you don't want to play in a dangerous category(Name it as Z💀DUNGERS💀Z to keep it at the bottom).
Optionally:
Sign up and create your account there.
This is very important to do as it will help you combine your games library scattered across all platforms.
For Steam you can just one click import by clicking on "HowLongToBeat™ Your Steam?" on the main page by just scrolling a bit down.
Pro Tip: You can also add games you want to play via emulation here. But don't add the whole console library, only games you are interested in.
Note: If you like to sail the seas, go ahead and still add the games you want to play here. Don't get into the habit of just watching videos after videos, reading reviews after reviews to determine the games you want to play, instead, listen to your heart, you know you want to play that game, just go ahead and play it.
If the platform lacks these features keep HowLongToBeat as the main page to play the games.
Go to your profile in HowLongToBeat and select "Game - Time To Beat" & Sort from lowest to highest.
That's all that was needed and you will now see one game with the smallest time to beat, install it and move to the next step.
There is a term in Gambling called Sunk Cost Fallacy, or in simpler terms, not letting things go just because you invested time/money into it.
You don't own a game your time or your money.
If you started to play a game and realize you are not enjoying the time you are putting into it now, be a bit bold here and call the game a steaming pile of cow dung in your head at the very least even and especially if the general media considers it a great freaking game.
The most important thing is how you feel while you play the game and even if it's a skill based tough game like Sekiro where you keep dying to one boss again and again, the fact that you are still learning and slowly overcoming it's moves, means you are still enjoying the process. How you feel inside you matters a lot.
Take my Hades Review for example: So many awards, so many praises and even I got pulled into it and I really loved the first 20 mins of the game until I died and I realized I have to do the same stuff all over again and that's the whole genre.
This game has 98% positive reviews. You realize that? 98%! And yet I land on the other 2% of the spectrum.
You don't have to agree with me or my views for this process to work. That's completely fine.
Note: You don't have to write a public review with comments on or make a video on it, only to invite backlash.
Remember, the idea isn't here to have an unpopular opinion but to let your own conscience be the dominating factor instead of what others say.
I will make a whole blog about it later but for now, don't get into any game blind on stream or even record it until you have decided it's for you. Other people in the chat or even if there is no other person watching just the fact that you might be judged in the future is enough for you to distort your own feelings and now see how the game is affecting you.
And if you do intend to become a game streamer, trust me on this, no one wants to watch someone not actually enjoying the game. This is not something you can fake for long and people will see it even if they can't put a finger on it.
If you do want to become a game streamer or game content creator, STOP STREAMING. Play games offline and once you are done with a game, share your own thoughts on the game, or something peculiar you found in the game or maybe how it made you feel. You can even share some small tips on how to approach the game and you can actually do all that without even making a video by just reviewing the game on steam.
