There are many movies disguised as games now-a-days where if you watched a gameplay footage, you don’t need to play it as there is no freedom. There are many levels to that, from just pure cutscenes to Quick Time Events to the worst offender where it feels like you have some freedom but the game only accepts one way of doing things. Those don’t qualify as games for me.
Here, we are given very basic controls and said, go nuts, and you do go nuts. This was done while still keeping a great story intact.
Then there are the other type of games which are basically dopamine-heavy where numbers go up, colors flash and the addiction part of your games like an addict goes, “Yes, more, more” and instead of you playing the game, the game starts playing you. With these games, you can’t put them down, you don’t feel satisfied in any ways and you just play because you are hooked.
A game that leaves you with an experience that you want to sit back and reflect on life.
Exo One, is a game that is really difficult to put in words but I will still give it a try.
In one word, “Surreal,” and when you think it won’t get more surreal than this, it goes one level deeper.
The gameplay of the game is there which in itself is a win. If I try to quantify this game on a scale, the scale will break.
The visuals and sounds were so great that I cleaned my monitor in months and disabled and closed my room to enjoy this experience.
I have not really thought how I will find a partner, if I even do in life, but this is going to be my test to see if we are aligned, to see if we belong together.
A genuienly great experience
Need to sleep on it before I can put into words what I have been through with it. Needless to say, a solid recommendation. Just make sure to properly calibrate the webcam before jumping in.
If you ever had a dream about flying, this will fulfil that dream. It's quick, it's small and it's Art.
It's an amazing solo experience and even better co-op expereince where I didn't even realize I was in a co-op world without having to do anything.
Finding someone else just like me in game and we enjoying it together was the peak for me. The game should have advertised this co-op fact and I might have bought it years ago.
The game was suggested to me by AI over months of talking to about my disappointment with the current game industry. All the live service games, games with micro-transactions, games delibrately made to squeeze as much of my time and as much of my attention as possible, and this is what AI recommended.
