Summary for Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 (Desktop replacement Machine. NOT A LAPTOP)

The laptop to buy in sale.
  1. The main reason to look at this DRM(Desktop Repalcement Machine) is that other better performing DRMs are more substantially more expensive. That's the main reason.
Which includes Dell's Alienware 18, Asus Scar 18/16, Medion Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate or Schenker XMG Neo some of which can actually be classified as gaming laptop or come with external water cooling.
  2. CPU runs very hot in gaming(people expect it to run hot in benchmarks but not during actual use case). This puts the long term viability of this particular laptop in question.
  3. GPU stays cool and performs pretty well in the laptop.
  4. Maybe the culprit of the heating CPU is the new vapour/hyper chamber thingy which clearly is a bad design decision compared to a four vent exhaust design.
Coupled with the fact that the laptop chokes when being using on a table(You know, like a laptop is supposed to be used!),

Caution: VVI If you're buying

  1. This is Intel CPU which I stopped recommending because it's long-term usage was in doubt. Only proceed if you're fine on that point.
  2. Even during gaming and laptop raised the CPU even at 75W stabilizes at over 90°C.
The 275HX CPU has been shown to have lower temperatures while having the same or more performance in other large laptops like the Dell's Alienware 18 Area 51 or the Asus Scar 18 (With just 10W less sustanaible TDP of 140W instead of 150W). This further proves about my theory of four sided vents better and two sided vents bad.
No need to push this 275HX CPU with custom mode and extreme fans to achieve the 175W sustained load. Even at 150W the performance difference isn't but the temperatures drop from 90 to 85°C ON A STAND. Even with a beefy vapour chamber and large laptop, the lack of four sided vents show here as the core temperatures are really high.
The only way to confirm is for a another laptop with the same CPU review with a four vents and how does it perform in comparision.
I quickly chekced a few laptops and for the temperatures I could find, I see worse temperatreus than this even closing to 100°C.
  3. If you don't need the extra VRAM for work, the 5080 might be the better choice consdiering the gap in raw performance isn't much.
  4. Even though laptop says PD charging of upto 140W it only draws 80W from wall which makes CPU run at half it's capacity and GPU a quarter of it's capacity. Also, I have seen that such PD chargers don't work with gaming laptops unless they are sleeping which is no use to anyone really.
If you live in a place where you can get the Lenovo's own 140W adpater might be aviailable then the scores will be a bit better but still not recommended.
  5. ALWAYS USE STAND WITH THIS LAPTOP.
Without a stand the Intel CPU starts overheating(103°C) at just around 75W at which the performance isn't enough for modern games.
  6. This is a very expensive laptop. Don't buy if you don't get atleast a total of three years Accidental Damage Protection or Warranaty of atleast three years(+1 which can be bought later). More details about it here.
  7. There are good reasons to turn off DLSS so only check gaming benchmarks without that.
  8. No, a laptop cooler won't help with lower temps on the Intel CPU(Check Benchmark Image below).
  9. OLED so PWM. Check you are not affected by PWM dimming.
There are some people who are effected by PWM(or very fast flickering lights) and have a lot of headaches. It's a small percentage of people and you should figure out if you're effected by this before getting this laptop.
Will discuss more about it here.
  10. Two vents so regular fan cleaning required. No need to remove the thermal module, just the fan blades with a brush is fine.
Extra Notes

Made a Desktop Replacement Category on the laptop page for such bulky laptop and there it fits perfectly

Review halted because I can't seem to recommend Intel Laptpos anymore and ones with a lot of power. 400W adapter of 1kg is just too much. I will not touch this review unless there is someone espcically looking for this laptop.

Initial Look: Even before going into this laptop I hate this immediately only because of the Intel CPU in this. I expected some battery life with the 100Whr battery but it's completley pathetic battery life and you might as well buy a PC. I mean it has been expected with Legions and especially Legion 7's to have decent enough battery life while also having pretty good performance and with this power hungry Intel CPU everything is ruined. To be honest I don't even want to review this laptop.
