Why not to buy VA Panel

I actually have been looking into the differences of VA and IPS panel for quite some time and even though IPS displays have thier downsides of backlight bleed varying from panel to panel and rare white and black dots on the screen which I discussed here, IPS is still much much better than VA in the budget segment.

The problems with IPS displays won't bother you everyday if used in a well-lit room which is recommended for health and long-term usage as it's only in dark room one starts to notice the issues with IPS displays. But the problems with VA displays are visible all the time and it will get quite irritating in only a few days as you will see in online reviews of many such monitors. If you're still not convinced, please check these monitors in offline market for a long time.
OLED vs. IPS/VA is a discussion for another blog but since they are in vastly different price bracket, there is really not much point copmaring them.

There are many problems with VA Panels especially when compared to IPS monitors which have gotten really good these days.
  1. Colors are off unless looked at straight especially on a curved monitor. So on a curved monitor in peripherial vision the portions farthest looks off.
  2. Brightness is not uniform all throughout the panel.
  3. Black Smearing→ When going from darker colors to higher colors. It ruins high refresh rate stuff.
