Gaming is for everyone

Gaming Culture shouldn't exist for those who can afford it

For the past many years, I have been limiting myself to only play games I own and even though I kept downloading many games, I tested and uninstalled it and then put the game on wishlist but never actually ended up buying it.

Most games I own were bought at 80-90% off, with only a few exceptions like Elden Ring, Stardew Valley(many copies), Helldivers 2 and a few other indie titles. And recently when I did actually start seriously beating each game one by one I realized most of them are games I didn't enjoy. I mean just look at this review scale:

I kept telling myself that the reason was actually simply that once I get access to a hoard of games I end up not playing one at a time but I already solved this problem with my audiobooks collection where I simply don't keep audiobooks installed that I am not listening. Maybe just one extra audibook and I only listen to one book at a time(one fiction/one non-fiction) and that has helped me go through all the games.

Right now I am playing a 2015 game that is a remaster of a 2005 game. Yes, I am playing a 20 year old game right now. And it's not a bad game by any stretch, it's just that I really want to play so many other games but I don't own them.

For the past many years, I even started to remove the game from my Steam Wishlist because when they did get a huge discount even then I didn't have enough money to buy them. And the months I did buy a few select game, it came out of a very very very tight budget that only I ended up regretting later.
My wishlist started to feel like a burden on me and I have actually removed most games that I genuienly was interested in.
So, as of 6th March 2026, I am taking the advice of the developers below and going to actually play games I really wanted to play, as for the problem of installing a f**k ton and not playing a single one, I sill sipmly use Gaming Logs to keep me in check.

I can't tell you how demeaning it felt watching others on YouTube and even knowing many of my colleagues who have a good career and life spend their free time on things they love to do like travelling, gaming, gambling, literally anything, and here's me who only felt like missing out on whole life with my current game libarary.

I will put my next gaming lists on the logs but I do want to point out a few games I really really wanted to play for example like Indika→ Even though it's mostly story, I still want to play it because the trailer is so enticing, and also Her Story.

Update: Dang! These two games were fucking gold. I am adding them to my Recommendations right away. And this has only reinforced this thought that become this blog.

From Game Developers' Mouth

UltraKill Developer on Steam and and my reply linking this blog

From the Developers of Just Shapes and Beats when someone ran the pirated version of the game:

I just want to say it's ok I'm not mad.
live played my share of pirated games when I
was a kid.
I guess this is karma right?

I remember when I was a kid. I didn't have any
money to support my favorite developer.
So I just want to say.
If you cannot support the game devs with
money. you can support them with words.

Talk about them.
Share their games with everyone.
Leave a positive review. a good rating.
Send them a tweet. an email. whatever.
Let other people know. That helps us A LOT.

If more people knows about the game. some of
them will have money and buy it.
In the end. we just want to be able to create
more games.

So I hope you had a good time with our game
and say good things about it on internet!

In the meantime. you can come chat with us live on
Berzerk.tv

if you're interested to see how games are made.

So thanks for playing our games!
Really appreciated.
You're the best! Bye!

My self-imposed restriction earlier

I only play games I own for my sanity. No Subscriptions.

When you have free access to all games like in a subscription, all you want to do is try the best and the most popular or the best looking games online, which I completely understand as I used to do that.
The problem was due to this we just kept installing and keeping many games at the time and the nervousness I felt was not worth it so I stopped doing that.
Even with cloud streaming where you don't have to download the game, if you are not careful you will end up jumping between games instead of giving a game your proper time.
If I don't own(license of course, no one's selling physical media for PC Games) a PC game, I don't play it anymore and ever since I have done that, I had to go back to my steam library to find that I actually had great games in my library like Yakuza 0 which I am playing as of Dec 2025 and that's what I am continuing to do.
